Vilsack looks to next year’s tax cuts

Governor Vilsack wants G.O.P. legislators to sit down and negotiate a taxcut package both republicans and democrats can agree upon next year.On Monday, Vilsack rejected the income tax cuts republicans pushed throughthe legislature this year.Vilsack says he’s interested in reducing the taxes pensioners are forced topay and he wants to meet with legislators to develop a tax cut plan. Vilsack says state tax collections are lagging — which according to Vilsackis a signal tax cuts may NOT be as large as republicans hope.Vilsack approved 42-million dollars worth of property tax relief this week.
