Grassley backs plan to protect social security

Legislation that’d prevent Congress from readily using Social Securitydollars for other things is getting Senator Chuck Grassley’s backing. TheIowa republican says the so-called “lock box” legislation would save thefederal retirement program on which millions of Americans rely.Grassley says if reforms are done properly, Social Security will continue tothrive for decades and help millions of future workers and retirees.Grassley is scheduled to testify on Social Security tomorrow morning beforethe House Ways & Means Committee. The measure is also slated for debate thisweek in the Senate. Grassley chairs the Senate Special Committee on Aging.
