F-C-S to close nine Iowa offices

Farm Credit Services of America is closing 21 offices in Iowa and three otherstates. F-C-S Vice President Neil Olsen says smaller offices are targetedfor closure.F-C-S offices in Forest City, Algona, Osage, Fort Dodge, Spencer, Tipton,Council Bluffs, West Union and Williamsburg will be closed. Olsen saysemployees in those smaller F-C-S offices spend alot of their time justkeeping office hours. He maintains closing those offices and shiftingworkers will allow more employees to make on-the-farm calls on customers.Once the move is complete later this summer, F-C-S will have two-hundred-31employees working out of 22 offices in Iowa. F-C-S provides credit andinsurance to farmers and rural residents.
