Senator Harkin says prepare for long haul in Kosovo

While peace may be coming to the Balkans, U-S troops could become part ofthat peacekeeping force for many years to come, according to Senator TomHarkin. The Iowa democrat says World War Two has been over more than 50years but the U-S still has troops in Japan and Germany.President Clinton promised to have U-S troops out of Bosnia more than twoChristmases ago, but had to break that promise. Harkin says the Americanpeople have to realize this is likely a long-term commitment.As for developments this week, Harkin says it looks like a “big victory forNATO.”
