Buchanan makes six city campaign tour in Iowa

Republican presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan says bad border-controlpolicy in the southwest U.S. is one cause of the drug epidemic.Buchanan has long been a critic of the North American Free Trade Agreementand has called for better policing of the U.S./Mexican border to curtailillegal immigration. Buchanan now says better border-control can curtaildrug trafficking, too.Buchanan contrasts his ideas with those of George W. Bush, the Republicanparty’s front-runner.Buchanan made his comments Monday after a tour through the “House of Mercy”in Des Moines, a home for mothers who’re kicking a drug or alcohol habit andtheir kids.Buchanan is on a six-city campaign swing through the state with stops inBurlington, Muscatine and Davenport today.
