Conference focuses on housing and homeless

About 150 people who try to help homeless Iowans get into homes are gatheredin Des Moines for the 8th annual “Affordable Housing & Homeless Conference.”Loyd Ogle is executive director of the Iowa Coalition for Housingand the Homeless. Ogle says yesterday’s speech by Governor Vilsack wassignificant as it marks the first time in eight years that a governor hasaddressed the group.Ogle says the conference is designed to get Iowa homeless advocates togetherso they can learn from each other. Attendees include: leaders from Iowa non-profit groups, service providers, financial institutions and officials fromstate, local & federal government agencies.The two-day conference will conclude this afternoon.
