University of Iowa officials have established a new “Farm Access Program” tohelp students whose farm families are suffering through the present pricecrisis in American Agriculture. University president, Mary Sue Coleman.says the university is offering “bridge loans” to farm-family students tocover tuition and fees.Coleman has ordered the University of Iowa Student Financial Aid office tohire more financial advisors, if necessary, and all staff will get specialtraining in ag-related finance issues.Coleman does not know what percentage of University of Iowa students arefarm kids or farmers themselves.
