Farm crisis rally set for Sunday

An “Ag Crisis Rally” will be staged Sunday afternoon at the Iowa Statehousein Des Moines. Brother David Andrews, executive director of National Catholic Rural Life’sIowa office, hopes farmers will turn-out in force to share their concerns.Speakers include Governor Tom Vilsack and Iowa State University ag economistNeil Harl as well as democrat state Senator Jack Kibbie of Emmetsburg andrepublican state Senator Daryl McLaren of Farragut. Both legislators arefarmers.The last major farm rally in Iowa was held in Ames back in 1986. Ten-thousand farmers turned-out, and the event drew national attention. Sunday’s rally will be staged on the west side of the State Capitol. Itstarts at 1:30.
