Prison director wants more money to fix up prisons

The state’s prison director doesn’t foresee building a new state prison inthe next 12 months. What “Kip” Kautzky wants is more money to fix up agingareas of existing state prisons. He cites the prison at Anomosa as anexample. He says everything from the electrical to locking systems needwork. Kautzky says Anamosa is just one example of the maintenance work that needsto be done. He says it will take between two and three million dollars toget the work done.Kautzky says he hopes they can address some of the maintenance problems inthe next year.
