Dole says media should focus on candidate’s background not bank book

Republican presidential hopeful Elizabeth Dole says the media is focusingtoo much on the money being raised by candidates rather than theirqualifications for holding office. Dole spoke with Radio Iowa, via phone,before a forum this afternoon in Shenandoah.Media outlets have followed the fundraising prowess of Republicanfront-runner George W. Bush, who now has over 50-million dollars in thebank, while questioning whether Dole’s campaign can continue on a shoestringbudget.Dole has tapped 21 college students to lead efforts to organize Dolesupporters at campuses around the state.Dole appears at the World Food Prize ceremonies this afternoon in DesMoines, then attends an event in Cedar Rapids. She started her campaign dayin Council Bluffs and had a stop in Glenwood.
