Marengo man faces charges for wild car ride

A trial date has been set for a Marengo man accused of ramming spectatorswith his race car in Benton county. 42-year old David Danes is charged with criminal mischief and leaving thescene of a personal injury accident. The incident happened July 19th at aracetrack in Vinton after Danes became upset with another driver. Danes gotinto his car and drove through the pit area, striking three people and theother driver’s car. One man was injured and taken to the hospital. Danes hasbeen banned for life by the association that sponsors the races. His trialis set for January 24th.
