Heroin use not catching on in Iowa

The state’s drug czar says while heroin use may be on a dramatic upswing onthe east and west coast, that’s not happening here in Iowa.Bruce Upchurch, the leader of the Governor’s Alliance on Substance Abuse,says Iowans prefer uppers, not downers like heroin. Heroin use has been depicted as chic in fashion magazines, but statenarcotics agents say they have not seized ANY heroin in raids this year. Last year, Iowa law enforcement seized just 18-hundred grams.
