Ferentz wants to maintain balance between the pass and run

Despite having the fifth best passing day in Iowa history coach Kirk Ferentzdid not name Scott Mullen as the Hawkeyes’ starting quarterback forSaturday’s game at 21st-ranked Ohio State. Randy Reiners is stillquestionable for this week with an injury and Ferentz says he could be thestarter is he is able to practice this week.Ferentz says they have no policy stating that a player cannot lose hisstarting job because of injury.Ferentz says despite the passing yardage in the loss to Indiana he wants tosee more balance in the offense and does not feel they can be successful byrelying on the passing game.Ferentz says the challenge gets even tougher this week at Ohio State.Ohio State coach John Cooper says Iowa has made strides in the last coupleof weeks.Cooper says this year is a perfect example of the increased parity incollege football.
