Alford opener as Hawk coach successful

The Steve Alford era began last night as the Iowa Hawkeyes downed the WorldSelect All-Stars 101-59 in exhibition play in Iowa City. The Hawks used anearly 13-3 run to take command and led 54-28 at the halftime break.Alford says he was impressed with the play of the guards who only had 11turnovers. Alford says the defense was pretty good and the biggest concernremains rebounding.
