Two of Iowa’s top legislators say there will be tax cuts in the next legislative session. House Majority Leader Brent Siegriest says the legislature will be responsible with social security and property taxes at the top of the list.The legislature has spent down the state suplus and Senate majority leader Stewart Iverson says they did it for a reason. He says they wanted to lower the ending balance so it wouldn’t be spent on new programs.Both of the Republicans made their comments during taping of the Iowa Public Television show “Iowa Press.”
