Neighbor sues to try and stop abortions at Bettendorf clinic

December 8, 1999 By admin

There’s an 11th hour effort to prevent abortions from being performed at the Planned Parenthood clinic opening in Bettendorf. The owner of an apartment complex adjacent to the clinic is filing a complaint in Scott County District Court asking for a preliminary injunction to block abortions. The suit contends a district court had no jurisdiction to prevent the city from enforcing 26-year-old neighborhood covenants prohibiting obnoxious or offensive trade or any activity that might become a nuisance.
