Iowans should recycle their greeting cards

December 27, 1999 By admin

An Iowa woman is touting the need for more programs to recycle your old Christmas cards. Leslie Goldsmith works for a recycling program that encompasses Taylor, Adams and Union Counties. She started a program last year to recyle Christmas cards from her area and got a tremendous response. Goldsmith says the cards can be used for a lot of things — including art projects for nursing. She says there’s a need for more recycling programs in the state. Goldsmith says her experience also shows Christmas isn’t the only season that generates cards for recycling — but birthdays, father’s day, mother’s day and others. Goldsmith encourages Iowans to look for ways to recycle cards instead of throwing them away.
