Counties eligible for drought help

Farmers in 17 Iowa counties are now eligible for low-interest loans to help recover for this past year’s drought. Bob Muenchrath a spokesman for the Iowa Farm Service Agency says farmers should sign up as soon as possible.The assistance was approved through a disaster declaration by the U-S Department of Agriculture.Muenchrath says the loans should help the farmers make it through the tough times brought on by the drought.Muenchrath says farmers can apply for loans at their local Farm Service Agency office. The counties included are: Davis, Henry, Jefferson, Lee, Van Buren, Wapello, Wayne, Appanoose, Clarke, Decatur, Des Moines, Keokuk, Louisa, Lucas, Mahaska, Monroe and Washington.
