The number of foster care parents has gone up dramatically in recent years in Iowa. There are currently two-thousand-228 families that provide foster care in the state. Jeff Terrell is chief of the state bureau that puts foster parents together with the children.He says there is still a big need for foster parents. Terrell says getting qualified to be a foster parent takes training and time.Terrel says the state does pay foster parents, however money should not be the reason for fostering a child. Terrel says being a foster parent can be difficult, but in the long run is very rewarding.
