Man’s body found in suicide bridge jump

The body of an elderly Iowa man was found in the Missouri River south of Council Bluffs this morning. Council Bluffs Police Sergeant Dave Yopp says the process of making the discovery began after an abandoned vehicle was found on the Interstate 480 bridge.The car was running & its lights were on. Council Bluffs Assistant Fire Chief Blaine Sorensen says once it was determined that the car had not had a mechanical problem, teams were sent into the river to search for a body.Sergeant Yopp says the weather conditions weren’t the best for doing a complete water search early this morning.Police say a suicide note was found in the home of the 61-year-old Council Bluffs man. His name has not been released.
