Grassley says flag ammendment will eventually pass

March 28, 2000 By admin

A vote on a Constitutional amendment to ban desecration of the American flag may come as soon as today in the U-S Senate, but Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley predicts it’ll again end in defeat, about two to three votes short. It takes two-thirds of the Senate to approve a constitutional change. Grassley says this measure will be brought up again & eventually will pass.A bill has been offered as an alternative to amending the constitution. It’d increase fines & allow for jail sentences for people who damage a U-S flag.
