State Public Health Director to participate in W-H-O conference

Iowa’s top doctor will be rubbing elbows with the world’s leading physicians in a few weeks. Iowa Public Health Director Steve Gleason has been named as a delegate to the World Health Organization conference in Switzerland. Dr. Gleason says it’ll be an opportunity for him to witness first-hand presentations from cutting-edge scientists.Dr. Gleason has been director of Iowa’s Department of Public Health for about a year. He served as a health care advisor to the White House under President Clinton in 1993 and ’94. Gleason says he will have plenty to contribute at the W-H-O meeting.The conference runs May 15-20 in Geneva.
