Lawmaker faces added pressure to end session

April 25, 2000 By admin

There’s added pressure on one lawmaker who’s striking deals to adjourn the 2000 Iowa Legislature. House Speaker Brent Siegrist spilled the beans last week during a speech — he’s supposed to be in Council Bluffs today. It’s “moving day” for the Siegrist family, which includes two young children, two cats and a dog, but Valerie Siegrist is moving into their new home, alone, without her husband’s help. Last week, Siegrist joked that his wife might want a divorce if the legislature was in session this week.
