Traffic stop leads to Sioux City drug bust

May 16, 2000 By admin

A routine traffic stop near Sioux City turned into a drug bust. The Iowa State Patrol stopped a taxi cab from Omaha for speeding on Interstate 29. Officers noticed two passengers squatting down in the back seat. The passengers allegedly provided the officers with false information and then fled when the officers tried to search the vehicle. Troopers found 17 pounds of methamphetamine worth an estimated 750-thousand dollars. The two men were later arrested in Sioux City. 22-year old Rico Diaz and 26-year old Navarro Zaragoza were both charged with felony drug possession.
