Next week’s U-S House vote on permanent normal trade relations with China is expected to be very close, but Iowa Congressman Tom Latham says the momentum is with those in favor of the trade bill. He says it will be an important vote both for Iowa farmers and for the nation.Latham says support for the China trade bill is growing gradually.While acknowledging concerns about human rights atrocities in China, Latham says the best way to effect change is to have a free and open marketplace. While all five Iowans in the U-S House -favor- the trade bill, Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, a democrat says he’s still undecided.Iowa’s other U-S Senator, republican Chuck Grassley, favors the China trade proposal.
