Vilsack says he’d answer the call if asked to be VP

June 12, 2000 By admin

Iowa’s first-term democrat Governor is rumored to be on the list of candidates Al Gore is considering as a vice president/running mate. Governor Tom Vilsack says he wants to do whatever he can to ensure Gore is the next president. Vilsack says if Gore believes he’d be a good fit, that would “be terrific.” Vilsack’s Lieutenant Governor, Sally Pederson, says she’s ready to assume the role of Governor, as she says she never “discounts a long shot.”
