Corn growers want investigation of oil industry

June 20, 2000 By admin

The Iowa Corn Growers Association continues to press for a Federal Trade Commission investigation of the oil industry. Lucy Norton of the Corn Growers says pump prices in Iowa have gone up 46 percent since January. Norton says oil companies blame new federal rules for reformulated fuels for the price increase, but those rules do dot apply to any Iowa City.Norton says ethanol should be cheaper at the pump, and she urges Iowans to patronize gas stations which offer the corn-blend for a few cents less than other fuels.
