Republican Party officials are charging democrats with bankrolling underhanded campaign attacks against three republican candidates for the Iowa Senate. Iowa G-O-P chairman Kayne Robinson says someone is conducting “push polls.” That’s a poll in which someone calls and makes a negative rumor about a candidate.Robinson says the negative telephone calls are directed at senate candidates in Council Bluffs, Des Moines, and Decorah. He says he hopes the people of Iowa are aware of the problem and don’t pay attention.Iowa Democrat Party executive director Jeannie Murray says Republicans are off-base. She says the party “has not, and does not pay for push polling.”Murray says the party has hired pollsters for legislative races, but they are not pushing negative questions such as “did you know this about the republican in the race?”
