Fundraising slow for GOP case against the governor

July 19, 2000 By admin

Republican legislators have raised less than two thousand dollars to bankroll their lawsuit against Governor Vilsack. Twenty-three G-O-P lawmakers are suing Vilsack over his executive order which bars discrimination against gay and “trans-gender” state workers.State Senator Steve King, a republican from Kyron, says he’s given one thousand dollars of his own money to press the lawsuit, which was filed July 11th. He says the remaining donations don’t even match that total. King says legislators are willing to risk their own money in the lawsuit.Twenty-three legislators, all republicans, signed onto the lawsuit.
