Painting an egg could get you to Washington

July 21, 2000 By admin

Iowa artists with an eye for detail, a steady hand and plenty of patience may consider decorating an egg for a shot at a trip to Washington D-C. The most creative and beautiful egg will be chosen on the opening day of the Iowa State Fair to represent the state in a display in the White House.Holly Sorge is spokeswoman for the Iowa Egg Council which is sponsoring the contest. All winning egg artists are invited to the White House after the Easter display. Sorge says the winning Iowa egg will be chosen August 10th.Sorge says the eggs should depict Iowa or something about Iowa and be creative. One catch, she says standard eggs are required — no ostrich, emu or anything else unusual. To request an entry form, call 877-IOWA-EGG.
