Changes made in second Shelby Duis trial

August 2, 2000 By admin

There’ve been a few changes in the trial of the Spirit Lake mother accused of killing her daughter.Judge Frank Nelson has agreed to Heidi Watkins’ request to have a non-jury trial. Nelson said however he will not hear the case as he presided over the trial of Watkins’ boyfriend Jesse Wendelsdorf. Wendelsdorf was acquitted Friday of murder and sexual abuse charges in the death of Shelby Duis. The trial has been moved from August 8th to August 10th and will be likely held in Dickinson County.
