August 2, 2000 By admin

Iowa bucked the upward trend in the July economic survey conducted by Creighton University economist Ernie Goss. Goss says the overall economy in the nine Midwestern states he surveys was up, but Iowa’s economy faltered.Goss says consumers and business owners in the Midwest aren’t paying attention to attempts to slow down the economy.Goss says Iowa’s economy dropped slightly in the economic index he uses to track the Midwest region. This is the third straight decline in the monthly index for Iowa, but he says Iowa’s economy is still growing at a good pace. Goss expects the Federal Reserve Board to raise interest rates again later this month.Goss conducts a monthly survey of the economy in Iowa and eight other Midwestern states.
