Virtually all incoming college freshmen go through orientation programs, but none quite like this one at the University of Iowa. The U-of-I is hosting 375 international students this fall. They’ve just started a program to learn, not only about the U-of-I, but Iowa and America.Anna Stepanova is the international student advisor. She says besides learning about campus housing, registration and the community, there are social events like a square dance, a picnic and a Taste of Iowa banquet. The U-of-I enrolls about 18-hundred international students each year from nearly 100 countries, from Brazil to Romania.Stepanova knows the orientation process well since she first came to the U-of-I ten years ago as an international student from Russia.
