The news director of an Iowa T-V station An electrical part on up to 150 Iowa school buses is under recall from the manufacturer. Iowa Department of Education school transportation consultant Terry Voy says some “Bendix” automatic braking systems aren’t sending the right braking signals to the wheels.The recall involves five different school bus manufacturers and buses which were made between January, 1998 and last month.There are seven thousand school buses transporting Iowa students to and from school and school events, so Voy says the number of buses with potential problems is quite small.Voy says Bendix identified automatic braking system problems when buses were operating below 20 miles per hour. Voy says no accidents have been reported in Iowa from the braking system failure.
