Iowans who are looking for a new way to relieve stress might consider taking up an old hobby. The 2nd annual “Heart of Cross Stitch Festival” is underway in Des Moines and organizers laughingly say it’s not just for little old ladies in rocking chairs.B-J McDonald is the editor and founder of “The Cross Stitcher” Magazine which is sponsoring the show. She says cross stitching is a time-honored tradition that’s finding new audiences.The festival features more than 100 classes and workshops for every skill level. There’s also a ten-thousand-square-foot marketplace area where enthusiasts can buy any needlework and cross stitch-related supplies.
