The 2001 edition of the “Old Farmer’s Almanac” will be hitting the newsstands soon. According to the Almanac, Iowa can expect below normal snowfall with precipitation below normal all the way to March. The Almanac is also reporting the state could see a severe drought next summer. State climatologist Harry Hillaker hopes the Almanac is wrong.Hillaker says there is not much to go on in making long-term predictions.Hillaker says without an El Nino or La Nina long-term predictions are more difficult.
