The methamphetamine-training center in Sioux City is getting an additional one million dollars for its operating budget this year. Sioux City Police Lieutenant Mel Williams says the increased funding will let the center expand its reach. He says the center has trained officers within a 150-mile range, but can now train officers from across the country. The center is beginning its fourth year of operation and has already trained six thousand officers. While the center is opening its training to other states, Williams says they won’t forget area departments. The center’s total budget for this year is two-point-two million dollars.
