Football quarterfinals feature some key games

In the quarterfinal round of the high school football playoffs tonight Sioux City East is at home against top ranked West Des Moines Dowling in class 4A. East is unranked but advanced with an upset over cross town rival Heelan and coach Walt Fiegel says his team has made strides and is a lot better than when they played Valley in the first game.Fiegel says history may be on the side of East as the last time Dowling came to Sioux City, they lost. Fiegel says Dowling has been to the championship, but never won it.In class A, second ranked West Central of Maynard visits English Valleys. West Central coach Steve Milder says with the short time to prepare, putting together a game plan is difficult.
