New tourney honors Iowa native and coach

Crestwood high school will play host to a brand new dual wrestling tournament this weekend. Crestwood athletic director Dave Herrold says the first annual event is named after former Iowa wrestling Coach Gary Kurdelmeier in recognition of what he accomplished at Cresco and the University of Iowa. Kurdelmeier won two state championships at the school.Herrold says what is unique about this tournament is that teams from three states will be involved.Herrold says they hope this is the first year of what could become a premier event.Competition begins Saturday morning at ten.
