A conservative alternative to the Iowa State Education Association has released the results of a survey of its members. The “Professional Educators of Iowa” survey found the republican-leaning teachers believe disruptive students are the greatest problem in Iowa classrooms. Ninety-six percent said it’s time to make it easier for teachers to remove unruly students. Nearly all — 98 percent — of the teachers who responded to the survey said legislators should give teachers a tax credit for items teachers buy, with their own money, for the classroom. Seventy-percent said there should be a higher minimum teacher salary in Iowa. The Professional Educators of Iowa has 16-hundred members. By comparison, the Iowa State Education Association has nearly 40-thousand members.
