An Iowan who had a crucial role in Saturday’s Inauguration is back home, but she could return to D-C for a full-time job. Becky Beach of Des Moines worked for Barbara Bush for four years in the early 1980s, and she was pressed into service for the First family this past weekend. Beach drew up the seating charts for the swearing in ceremony and the parade reviewing stand, but her biggest role was arranging the movements of the 21 members of Bush’s immediate family. She says they had a lot of people who requested tickets and she help make sure everyone got where they needed to be.On Saturday, Beach rode in the limo with the former President and his wife to deal with small emergencies. She says it helps them to have someone who can take care of the minor details. For example, the twin daughters of George W. Bush had some friends that needed a ride. Beach got on the phone and arranged their rides.Beach has been asked to work in the Bush Administration, but she’s still thinking it over. She’s currently an aide to one of the Republican leaders in the Iowa Legislature. Beach is sporting a tiny shiner. A military man smacked her in the eye with an umbrella that was used to shield President George W. Bush from the rain on Saturday.
