Group raises money to light bridge in Lansing

February 2, 2001 By admin

The effort in far northeastern Iowa to raise money to put lights across a Mississippi River bridge has exceeded expectations. Co-chairperson Mary Lynn Revoir of Waukon says donations surpassed the goal a few weeks ago.The money will go for the stringing of 74 lights across the Black Hawk Bridge at Lansing in Allamakee County. Revoir explains how the lights will work to beautify the town’s riverside setting.Revoir, who’s a Lansing native, says the committee has been working with the Coast Guard and the Iowa D-O-T to get approval for the project. The total cost for the project is expected to be 55-thousand dollars.
