Powerball jackpot hits 70 million

February 14, 2001 By admin

Like the snow piling up outside, the “Powerball” lottery jackpot has been steadily increasing. Iowa Lottery spokeswoman Mary Neubauer says the jackpot has gone unclaimed since December 30th, and is up to 70-million dollars for tonight. Neubauer says the jackpots draw more players as they grow. She says ticket sales will be brisk today, with tickets being sold at hundreds per minute. Nuebauer says if you forgot to buy Valentine’s Day flowers for your sweetie, you could get ’em a Powerball ticket instead. The Powerball drawing is tonight at 9:59.
