U-of-I Hospitals lose power

March 1, 2001 By admin

Power was out for about 50 minutes early this morning at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. A transformer problem in an electrical substation caused the outage. University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics facilities director Ken Davenport says the hospital went to back-up power at 7:04 a-m. Davenport says nine emergency generators provided power to critical areas of the hospital, like the intensive care units and the emergency room.
