The 27th annual Variety Club of Iowa telethon will run this weekend, starting at seven p-m Saturday. Stan Reynolds, the program’s producer, says it’s another big cast of characters. Reynolds says last year’s telethon netted four million dollars and it’s all gone now. He says the Variety Club backs neonatal units at two Des Moines hospitals. Reynolds says more than 100 organizations benefited from the Variety Club last year. He says Iowans are generous in their support. The telethon will air in several Iowa markets for 23 hours — including Ames/Des Moines, Cedar Rapids/Waterloo, Sioux City and the Quad Cities.
