A conference on water quality and how it’s effected by agriculture opens today at Iowa State University. I-S-U agronomist Richard Larson says the three-day meeting is gathering some 300 people from across Iowa who are concerned about water quality.Larson says the conference allows for an exchange of ideas between those with experience and those who are just getting started on water quality projects. He says it will give people a chance to talk to specialists about their latest research.Larson says the Iowa Department of Natural Resources is making strides in preserving water quality, including requiring buffer strips along streams, forcing reduced chemical use and more tightly-regulating livestock lots.The conference runs through Wednesday at I-S-U’s Scheman Building.
