Wedding cake was served at the statehouse Tuesday as part of a “Marriage Matters” event. Representative Danny Carroll, a republican from Grinnell, says marriage is too often taken for granted. He says if he could do anything to improve the lives of Iowans, it would be to figure out a way to strengthen the institution of marriage.Legislators are being asked to spend 10-million dollars to expand the “Marriage Matters” pre-martial counseling program statewide. Another bill lowers the cost of a marriage license if the engaged couple completes a counseling course.
