A northwest Iowa high schooler was arrested Wednesday for taking a gun to school. Sergeant Bluff-Luton Superintendent Rich Caldwell says administrators got a tip and confronted the student, who admitted he took a gun to school Tuesday. Caldwell says the “special needs” student said he took the gun to school to show it off. The student, who’s in juvenile detention now, is suspended from school and will likely be expelled for a year. Caldwell says in the past seven years, there have been five Sergeant Bluff students who’ve been expelled for a year for bringing a gun to school. Sergeant Bluff is a suburb of Sioux City.
