Top seeded Cylcones shocked by Baylor

March 9, 2001 By admin

Top seed and seventh-ranked Iowa State was upset by Baylor today 62-49, in the Big Twelve Tournament. While the loss was tough to take, Cyclone coach Larry Eustachy was able to joke with reporters afterward. Eustachy just signed a new contract extension after his team wrapped up the regular season Big Twelve title and the top seed in this tournament. He says the team wasn’t as ready for the game as they should’ve been. Eustachy says this game should be a wake up call as they prepare for the NCAA Tournament. The loss was just the second in the last 14 games for ISU and Eustachy says it shouldn’t have that much impact on their NCAA tourney seed. Iowa State was led by Tyray Pearson, Jake Sullivan and Kantrail Horton, who each scored 10 points. The Cyclones are now 25-5 and will wait for the NCAA selection announcement Sunday to find out where they’ll be heading for post-season play.
