Ottumwa man admits to shooting

An Ottumwa man faces up to ten years in prison after confessing to shooting another man back in January. 47-year-old Mike Carey of Ottumwa -was- charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting 21-year-old Hector Leyva Junior outside Ottumwa High School on January 9th. Leyva was shot in the face and is still recovering. Carey plea bargained Monday and pleaded guilty to willful injury and going armed with intent to cause injury.
